Replacing an existing HYRiTE LPS power supply starts with its full model number and the load it actually powers. SE, standard LNS and TLG are candidate ranges to assess, but matching “12V” and “100W” is only the first step. This guide uses LPS-12E100C-M as a worked example to show what changes when selecting a replacement.

In this guide
Identify the existing LPS before choosing a replacement
Photograph the complete label, including the suffix, input rating and DC output. This example concerns the LPS-12E100C-M specification, version 2. Its table lists 12V DC, 8.4A, 100W and an input range of 180–250V AC. Do not extend this comparison automatically to other LPS wattages, 24V models or a different document revision.
Keep both the stated current and power limits in view. The rounded 8.4A entry should not be used to increase the specified 100W rating. Establish the total demand of the LEDs and any controller supplied by the unit, then check the expected mains voltage and local operating temperature.
Compare exact models, not just series names
The table below is a shortlist for assessment, not an approved interchangeability list. Input ranges must be read together with the corresponding loading curves; they do not promise full output at every voltage.
| Model | Specified DC output | AC input range | Dimensions, L × W × H |
|---|---|---|---|
| LPS-12E100C-M | 12V; 8.4A; 100W | 180–250V | 245 × 45 × 31 mm |
| SE-12E100 | 12V; 8.33A; 100W | 190–264V | 190 × 55 × 30 mm |
| LNS-12E100V | 12V; 8.33A; 99.96W | 180–264V | 143 × 49 × 33 mm |
| TLG-12E100C | 12V; 8.0A; 96W | 100–264V | 203 × 57 × 18 mm |
The “100” in a model name is not a substitute for its output table. The TLG-12E100C version compared here is specified at 96W. Also, standard LNS and the high-power-factor LNS-P range are distinct: LNS-P is outside this replacement comparison.
Check the actual load and operating margin
Consider a hypothetical 72W total load at nominal 12V, including any DC-powered controller. Its calculated current is 72W ÷ 12V = 6A. Against the listed output ratings, that is 72% of the LPS or SE rating, approximately 72% of the LNS rating, and 75% of the TLG rating.
These documents recommend allowing approximately 20% loading headroom. On that basis alone, the 96W TLG example gives 76.8W at 80% loading, rather than the 80W obtained from a 100W supply. A proposed 80W load therefore needs further selection review even though it is below 96W.
This arithmetic is a preliminary screen, not installation approval. Check the exact input-voltage and temperature curves as well. For example, SE's specified input range starts at 190V, so it cannot simply inherit an old LPS installation's 180V minimum requirement. Request a model-specific assessment wherever operating conditions reduce available output.
Review dimensions, mounting and wiring separately
A shorter unit may still be wider or taller. Compared with the LPS dimensions above, SE is wider, standard LNS is taller, and TLG is wider but lower. Measure the available space, mounting-hole positions, cable routes and access for connections. Overall dimensions alone do not establish that the existing fixing points can be reused.
Check the new unit's wiring diagram rather than carrying over assumptions about wire colours. Confirm DC polarity, conductor size, protective-earth requirements and connection protection before installation by qualified personnel. Retain the ventilation required by the selected model's instructions; a waterproof enclosure rating does not remove its thermal requirements.
Choose the candidate that fits the project
Assess SE when its input range, output and mounting envelope suit the installation. Consider standard LNS where its compact footprint is useful, while checking height and fixing details. Consider TLG where a lower-profile housing or its wider specified input range is relevant, while respecting the exact output rating and derating conditions.
Review the LNS-100V product and specification and TLG-100C product and specification, or browse the product series index. For SE selection or a replacement assessment, contact HYRiTE with the old label, measured installation space, total load, mains range and operating conditions. Our signage power supply enquiry checklist helps organize those details.
