Hyrite Signage Power Supplies: From Neon to LED
Saturday, October 3, 2026
Click here to download PDFA sign is only as dependable as the system behind its illumination. For sign makers and project buyers, selecting a power supply means more than matching a wattage: the electrical load, mounting space, operating environment, service access, and market requirements all matter. Hyrite's background connects traditional neon products with today's LED signage power supplies, giving customers a product portfolio that spans both technologies.

From NeonPro to Hyrite: a background in illuminated signs
Founded in Foshan, China in 1993, Hyrite Lighting Company was formerly NeonPro Co. Its current range still includes traditional neon power supplies and accessories alongside switching power supplies for LED lighting and signage. This is not simply a story of replacing one lighting technology with another. Traditional neon remains relevant to specialist sign work, while LED modules, strips, and LED neon flex serve different design and installation requirements.
For a sign business handling both established installations and new projects, that breadth is useful. Hyrite's neon product range includes power supplies and accessories such as electrodes, electrode caps, and GTO cable. Its LED range provides another route for illuminated lettering, light boxes, and other signage applications. Customers can discuss the intended sign system rather than starting with an isolated component.
What changes when a sign moves from traditional neon to LED?
The visual purpose may be similar, but the electrical requirements are not. Traditional glass neon uses a dedicated high-voltage supply matched to its tubing system. LED modules and many LED neon-flex products instead require a compatible low-voltage DC supply; the correct voltage and driver type depend on the LED manufacturer's specification.
A traditional neon transformer is not a substitute for an LED power supply, and an LED power supply cannot directly operate traditional glass neon. A retrofit therefore needs a new assessment of the load, wiring, protection, mounting, and applicable installation requirements. Experience across the two product groups is valuable when it helps buyers ask the right questions, not when it treats the technologies as interchangeable.
Signage selection starts with the complete installation
A channel-letter sign, a backlit light box, and a decorative LED neon-flex display can require different supply arrangements even when their total power looks similar. The useful starting point is a project brief describing the LED load, input supply, available enclosure space, and exposure conditions.
- Load compatibility: confirm output voltage or current, total load, and any dimming or control requirements. Do not choose a supply from wattage alone.
- Physical fit: check dimensions, mounting position, wiring access, and clearance for heat dissipation and maintenance.
- Installation environment: distinguish a dry indoor light box from an outdoor sign exposed to rain, condensation, or temporary flooding.
- Thermal conditions: check the model's temperature limits and derating, especially inside a compact or sun-exposed sign enclosure.
- Market requirements: request the certification documents for the exact model and intended destination.
These questions turn a supplier conversation into a practical selection process. They also help avoid preventable changes late in fabrication, such as discovering that the chosen enclosure cannot accommodate the supply or that the specified output does not match the LED modules.
Indoor and waterproof LED options for different sign designs
Hyrite's current portfolio includes indoor constant-voltage supplies and IP67/IP68 waterproof product families. That allows buyers to compare installation formats within the same manufacturer's range instead of assuming that one power supply suits every sign.
For dry, protected installations, start with the indoor power supply range. For exposed sign locations, review the outdoor waterproof power supply range and the instructions for each candidate model. Waterproof construction does not remove the need for suitable terminations, drainage, heat management, or correct installation.
An IP68 label also does not mean unrestricted underwater operation. Our IP67 vs IP68 application guide explains how placement and manufacturer-defined immersion conditions affect selection. For driver type, see the constant-voltage versus constant-current guide.
Manufacturing and quality control behind the product range
Hyrite describes its manufacturing system as combining incoming inspection, production inspection, electrical testing, burn-in, reliability testing, and final inspection. Its company information also identifies ATE electrical testing and Hi-Pot and insulation verification within that process.
For a signage buyer, the value of a controlled process is the ability to discuss how a selected product is checked and what documentation accompanies it. A company-level quality system and a product-level certification answer different questions: neither should be used to imply that every model carries the same approvals. Hyrite states that certification availability varies by series and model.
Review the company overview and request the relevant specifications and documents before final approval. This evidence-based approach is more useful than a general claim that any driver will be suitable for any sign.
Standard products and OEM support for signage businesses
Some sign makers need a repeatable standard supply for regular production. Others have requirements involving wiring, housing, labels, or packaging. Hyrite's published OEM/ODM offering includes these areas, allowing customers to discuss a configuration around their manufacturing or project needs.
Customization should still begin with clear requirements. Specify the desired electrical output, mechanical constraints, environment, destination market, and anticipated order requirements. Confirm feasibility, testing, approval scope, and commercial terms with Hyrite rather than assuming that a standard model's certification or warranty automatically transfers to a modified version.
Why the neon-to-LED experience matters
Hyrite's advantage is the combination of a long-established company background, an ongoing neon product range, LED signage supply options, and manufacturing and customization capabilities. For buyers working across traditional and contemporary sign designs, this creates a useful starting point for a supplier relationship.
The final choice should always be made at model level. The strongest outcome is not simply buying a higher wattage or a higher IP rating; it is selecting a documented power supply that fits the sign, the installation, and the customer's market requirements.
